Hello!
I’m Reuben, Editor here.
The goal of FISHMAG is to provide practical community angling guides and capture the natural beauty of fishing.
In 2023 I was with the Angling Trust on a fish conservation project. In 2021 and 2022, BBC Countryfile finding people to go on TV and filming with them. I have since filmed with guides in New Zealand and Mexico, including on Daiwa Japan’s testing boat.
FISHMAG finds people that have specialist knowledge on an angling subject that are open to sharing it with the broader fishing community. I’m proud of our guide on Fly fishing for Mullet, with a pioneer of the method, and would like to focus producing more practical guides, with people that have deep experience of an area.
Fishing provides escape for people and I think most anglers are naturalists. The sea is perhaps the only wild place left in Britain. Now and then you get a glimpse of it, anyway, and it’s enough to keep us all fishing. A bait ball frothing at your feet, sandeel glimmering in clear blue water, a mackerel shaking with electric colours and movement, hard to grip. In the end, that’s why we’re all out there.
If this is the kind of thing you like…
