Do we really need cool boxes for fishing in the UK?

Well, oily fish like mackerel start to spoil quickly – within just a few hours. Putting any fish straight onto ice is the best way to preserve freshness – even in the mildest of English summers!

We also liked having our drinks ice cold, even after hours in the sun. It was like having a beer out the fridge, only from the rocks.

The fish were delicious that evening over the fire. It’s something special to catch fish and share them with mates…

It was a luxurious touch, for sure.
